Tips to help the work at home mom!
If you are a WAHM (work at home mom), you know it’s not easy to both take care of baby and get any work done. But with some planning and time management, it can be doable. Here are 5 tips that could help:
1. Plan your work schedule the day before.
Sometimes, the biggest time hole in your day can be not knowing what to work on when you actually have a few minutes. Plan ahead and write down your work tasks the day before. That way, when you get to sit down to work you can jump right in to what you’re supposed to be working on.
2. Work when baby naps.
If you’re juggling working from home and being a full time mom, things can get tricky. It’s hard to focus on work and doing a good job with a baby on your lap. Work when baby naps so that you can get some quiet time to focus. Try doing other tasks and chores with baby while he’s awake.
3. If your baby is old enough, try to get him on a schedule.
Having a relatively predictable schedule will help you find a sense of calm in your day. You will know when it’s time to work and when it’s time to be with baby. A nap and feeding schedule can work well for baby too—and don’t forget a scheduled bedtime routine!
4. Ask for help.
You don’t have to do EVERYTHING on your own. Ask for help when you need it. Whether that help comes in the form of your partner, mom, or a part time caregiver, know when you need the gift of time. A stressed and unhappy mom makes for a stressed and unhappy family, so do everyone a favor and give yourself a break.
5. Take time to just be with your baby.
When you’re working from home, it can feel like you never leave work behind. Make it a priority to set aside plenty of time to just spend time with your baby. No phones, no checking email—just experience being a mom and the wonderful moments with your child.
